First off let me just say that I have heard no legitimate rumors of Shawn Michaels retiring. The reason this is on my mind is the latest skit that he is in with Chris Jerhico teasing Shawn Michaels retiring, which means that it is more than likely on his mind. Although I am almost certain that he will not be retiring anytime soon, I just wanted to put this out there as it seems to have allot of people wondering.

Its been said by many (including myself) that Shawn Michaels aka The Heartbreak Kid is the greatest superstar of all time for many different reasons. Being a wrestler requires many talents of which two are a must. They must be incredibly athletic and they must be creative with their skits (the build up of the match).
Wrestlers obviously need to be very athletic to perform the job in the ring. However, most people overlook the fact that there skits are equally important. The skits building up their matches are the selling point of wrestling's pay per views.
Most wrestling superstars usually stand out when they are talented at at-least one of these areas. A few such as The Rock, and Triple H have had very successful careers as wrestlers with talents in both of these areas.
Before the success of The Rock, and Triple H and before the popularity that wrestling has today, HBK was a complete stand out in these areas. He was (and still is) one of the most athletic superstars to ever step in the ring. Bringing a number of moves such as the moonsault (back flip from the top rope) to the business. He also revolutionized a number of matches such as the ladder match, which usually involves a championship belt being hung just in reach from a ladder and the wrestler that climbs the ladder to gain position of the championship first being named the winner.
A wrestler almost always performs as either a heel or a baby face, heel being the "bad guy" and baby face being the 'good guy'. Many fans actually overlook the fact that the guy they absolutely hate (the heel) is actually getting paid to make you hate him. He may cheat, talk badly about the fans, lie etc. The point of all of this is that they want you to hate him so much that you will pay to see him get his but kicked. Shawn Michaels is one of the few in the business to be a major success at both of these rolls. Along with Triple H, he formed the stable degeneration x (dx) as heels which later became one of the most popular stables in the history of the business.

As a die hard HBK fan I never want to turn on monday night raw without seeing Shawn Michaels wrestling, as a matter of fact, after the first Shawn Michaels retirement I no longer kept up with the business or even watched the shows for a couple of years. The fact is however, Shawn is now 43 years old and has suffered many injuries including the back injury which put him out of action for four years, and numerous knee injuries. Wrestlers in the WWE can also be on the road over 240 days per year which makes it hard for him to spend time with his wife and two children.
Ultimately when it comes to the subject of Shawn Michaels retiring the decision is his. Once again I want to point out that I have heard no rumors of an actual Shawn Michaels retirement, but I'm sure especially with the latest skits on raw that he has started to weigh the options.
The perfect Shawn Michaels retirement match
Shawn Michaels has held the world championship 4 times the last of which was in 2002. 6 years is a long dry streak for such a decorated super star, and I just can't see HBK retiring without one more WWE title run. In my opinion a fifth championship is long overdue, and I would like to see him go out on top. Wrestlemania is the biggest pay-per-view in the business, and some of his most memorable matches has been with the undertaker, who just so happens to hold a undefeated streak at wrestlemania.
I'm sure everyone knows where I'm going with this by now, and of course the Undertaker would have to be the world champion at the time. Here goes! HBK vs. the Undertaker at wrestlemania for the world heavy weight championship in a 60 minute iron man match, which is the same way Shawn won his first wwf championship. HBK and the Undertaker have performed some of the greatest matches of all time, so why not? HBK defeats the Undertaker in a 60 minute iron man match for the WWE championship, breaking the long wrestlemania undefeated streak of the undertaker. The following night on monday night raw could be the official Shawn Michaels retirement, as the WWE champion.

There have been talks about his streak coming to an end this year, but they are leaning towards a up and coming superstar to do it. To me that would be crap! If HBK doesn't do it than no one should.
All they are doing with HBK now is trying use him to make the other wrestlers look good and use shawn's age as the excuse. However Vince, taker both have held titles in the past couple of years. Shawn even had to put over hogan who is old as dirt, and isn't even a part of the show anymore! So why put him over? They are waisting good talent.

Interesting idea, but I don't like it. For one, it's not going to happen in regards to there being a championship in the mix obviously. For another. Undertaker has been in the business as long as HBK and I don't like Undertaker jobbing to Michaels, even for his last match. The streak shouldn't be broken as that's something that stays with the fans. The streak being broken won't stay with fans decades down the road. It would be interesting if Michaels went out on top, but not at the expense of the Undertaker. And remember that Flair put Michaels over for his retirement, maybe Michaels should do the same for someone like Jericho or another younger, but well established, star.
Well I hate to tell you but it looks like great minds think alike because the match is confirmed for wrestlemania the only difference is HBK isn't retiring, but taker is jobbing to michaels this year unless plans change.

Shawn Michaels' contract is up as of Wrestlemania 26. I don't believe he'll retire completely, but I think the only way he'll renew his contract is if he can get a schedule similar to that of the Undertaker. If in fact he does retire completely though, the scenario you gave is good, but I think that would result in Undertaker retiring as well. I think that ending his streak would cause him to decide to end his career as well.

you are spot on dude. i think both the undertaker & shawn michaels must agree on the same date as far as their retirement is concerned. then these two great legends should have this one final match at wrestlemania ( an iron man match)
but at least a few months before they should get into the skin of their old characters . who wont love to see the bad boy with the attitude n high flying heart breAK kid shawn michaels & the zombie kinda scary undertaker one more time. now a days shawn michaels looks like he's a 100 year old. he does not resemble the superstar that he once was. he calls himself the heart break kid but can you those trademark classic hearts on his clothes ? he is always sad and depressed except few moments. he fights like he's got nothing left in him and is terribly slow . this is how his matches are nowadays 1)hbk hits with lots of punches 2) then comes the legendary chops a 1000 maybe it goes on and on and on 3) then he gets beaten by every guy tahts te=here in the ring he gets his ass kicked for hours and finally in the end he gets up with his trademark move and again goes for the chops and then comes the sweet chin music. thats it this is how all of his matches are nowadays . you can actualy see the crowd getting bored but back in the 90's the crowd would be always on their feets when the heartbreak kid was in the ring. i dont know if its bad scriptwriting on the part of wwe or its shawn himself but his creativity in the ring is at its nadir . maybe its the scripts coz if even today hbk gets back his looks , attitude and high flying in ring performance then the future wrestlers like john cena , randy orton and even triple h will have no one to cheer for them coz its all gonna be hbk allover. now the undertaker who seemed at once time really a deadman faints after getting hit by some superstars . now that is pathetic. so i would love to see the old hbk and undertaker doing what they do best one more time at wrestlemania . and the result a DRAW . why ? coz nobody is gonna love to see the undertakers streak end . why does the wwe has to always change ? let the undertaker retire as the only undefeated wrestler at wrestlemania . now a draw would be fair enough on both coz the undertaker wont lose and hbk would be the only person in history not to loose to the undertaker at wrestlemania. and also in a way the streak will be affected as it will be halted if not broken . at the end of the match after 60 minutes the referee should extend the time to 15 minutes more even after which there would be no result hence the referee would declare the match as a draw . and finally a graet farewell for 2 greta legends.

I think that Shawn Michaels honestly needs a break. It's sad to say and I will be upset when they do it again this year like they did last. There is no possible way that two superstars that are as old (no offense to their talent) could do an iron man match and be able to hold the spotlight that long. It would be nice to see someone break Takers record, even though I am a huge fan of both. But in my opinion Michaels will be retiring this year. His children are getting older and Hogan had retired just like this because he wanted to spend more time with his kids. The Undertaker has children too and we have to understand that as much as we love these superstars that they do have personal lives. they knew what they were getting into but they are both 40+ years old and have left and come back on numerous occasions.
The upcoming Wrestlemania match will be amazing, no doubt, because we will see who these 2 men really are. And I really hope that we don't see some kind of Vince McMahon screwjob like we did with Bret Hart all those years ago. But these are just my opinions and my ideas of what may pssibly happen

I don't see the Undertaker losing at WrestleMania! WWE isn't going to let 17 years of the undertaker's career go down the drain. Something like that is legendary with the fans. I personally feel like this could be the end for both. I love HBK, and the Undertaker has been around forever as well. There is no replacing either one, but it is clear that they are both wearing down. HBK is the best the business has ever seen, there is no question about it. It comes down to this : The streak of the Undertaker doesn't define his career-his career doesn't deminish any if he loses at Wrestlemania. Likewise, Shawn is still the greatest wrestler of all time regardless of the outcome. All of the talk about HBK not having a career without this win may open a door for him to win, and then the next night on Raw, say that his career is finalized and there is nothing more to give or achieve. I think that would be a fitting end to the heartbreak kids legacy. I'm not sure what is going to happen, but I hope they don't try and pull one of the screw job angles with this one. Let them both have one more night under the spotlight where they belong without any interference and no double count out junk haha -They have both given so much for our entertainment, I just hope they do this one right !

Shawn wasnt forced to retire. He wanted to. He isn't able to perform at the level he wanted to. Plus being on the road 240 days a year takes it's toll on the body. He wants to be with his wife and kids as they grow up.

Now that HBK is gone, I forsee the steady demise of WWE. He has left a vacuum too big to fill by anyone including the Undertaker. It was a shame Undertaker and his bore me to death predictable streak was the way he went out, because i thought HBK would go out in a 'blaze of glory'. A horrible retirement match for such a legendary icon. Shame on WWE. I will now no longer watch WWE again. Personally i think shawn is a great wrestler (the best in my opinion) but this is what shawn wanted and therefore i respect that. The undertaker is good also however i forsee him not far off retirement himself.

lol well if he comes back, thats great, but if not, i understand. i just think that people that have a bad taste in their mouth about leaving should stick it. and as far as cena goes. i like cena. but in some cases i think of cena as a baby. always wants the title. shawn wasnt like that. he liked winning titles, but he certainly didnt need titles to prove himself. look at shawn. he is a legend. he has had so many great matches in his life and made history a few times for WWE. cena may only make history in getting the most titles because thats ALL cena goes for. but thats the kinda character they made out of cena. shawns character has been very different. as i said above. while cena made titles, shawn made names for himself. i hate to say it but john cena will always be known as john cena and nothing more. shawn micheals has "the show stopper, HBK (heart break kid), and of course, mr. WRESTLEMANIA. i think thats it but still. he was named show stopper for a reason as well as mr, wrestlemania. and he did win a few titles as well. all i am saying is shawn micheals had a very successful career whether he comes back and wins more titles or not. shawn doesnt need titles to prove that he is the best. his talent speaks for itself. although i will say this. i will be royally and super pissed if they make it that john cena defeats the undertaker. thats just wrong on so many levels if he does. as much as i have respect for john, i dont think he deserves to carry that around with him.

It seems a bit much for the WWE to allow a wrestler's retirement as a condition for a match. It was rather a sudden turn of events for an extremely popular wrestler. It has left Shawn's adoring fans in an extremely long state of shock, so it is hard to beleive that Shawn, a preacher, would be "put out to pasture", as a condition for losing a match by a man who represents death. Popular or not, the Undertaker should not be allowed to make such a condition in the first place. Think of it, "Death" has decided on the fate of a man who has been ONE of the, if not THE most successful wrestlers - ever. In spite of Vince McMahon's shortcomings, even he is a smart enough businessman to know that he doesn't want to lose a positive image of WWE in Shawn Michaels. I foresee a return for Shawn Michaels; at least long enough for him to get a better send off - one his fans can smile about in years to come.

Hmm... Wow, 25 years, that is a long time, don't you think that a legendary career should end on a high note? Losing to a man just one year younger than him on the GRANDEST STAGE OF THEM ALL is not a high note, I honestly think WWE could have done way better than that for Shawn, I understand he has a family, and is aging, but... couldn't he had ended the streak on his last night?!
idk there seems like there is a big coincidence here with shawn getting retired and triple h getting his ass kicked and getting put out for a bit by shamus or however you spell his name. this kinda leads me to believe that they may come back as DX again lol. if its true about this guy saying he has inside sources from WWE that shawn will be returning in a few months, i see triple h returning with him. not saying this will happen. very well could be just wishful thinking on my part. i guess only the future can tell. either way, successful career both as a single and as DX by both men. he was a part of a group that shove vinces head into big shows ass. i say that is a successful career right there lol. and he made shane kiss vinces ass. even better. father and son have never been so close. so yea, john cena may win a lot of titles, but he will never make the chairman of the board get launched into the ass of the worlds largest athlete. :D

The Main man that started all the Third Generation Superstars talent! if you looked closely, Shawn Michaels is the ONLY wrestler that wrestles like all these Third Generations Superstars today. Such talent was an encouragement to superstars such as John Morrison, and many other great wrestlers. SHAWN MICHAELS IS THE BEST. To be honost, WWE probably wouldnt have survived, and wouldnt be here if it werent for Shawn Michaels since he was TRUE to WWE, and never left to WCW and Ted Turner.
